The balance of my mind is disturbed. There’s a feather on the scales of the one who sails me home. I can say nothing. Wending through the wonder of the one. Two can play that game, and some go deeper than the call that comes from nothing. I am nothing.
East of west I searched without within. The moment of my doubting took the sums I’d paid you out into nothing. For any shade of peace I’d paint this in. Out has subtle meaning hidden in the brazen sun shining at nothing. I am nothing.
Dim the darkness of the weary way. Lay me in the purest stuff. It all comes down to waiting for nothing. I am nothing.
Though they say that victory will come to those who hold their ground, I know that any ground I’ve held has been another’s. I’ve been port outward starboard home, but still the water flows to wider seas and drinks me empty.

Start Out Tall

You start out tall at the top of the stairs, but as you move on down you become aware of the voices on the landing far below. You take your cues and make your bows, but there's no encore anyhow until you reach the ending of the show.
Don't be afraid, we have arms to hold you, hearts that will never scold you, tears we will shed for you alone, This is your hour, you were born to take it, strong enough now to make it, bold as you reach to claim the prize.
You start out tall at the top of the stairs, but as you move on down you become aware of the faces on the landing just below. You know the prize and you know the price, and you know the rolling of the dice as you turn your face towards the final show.
Give all you have without counting effort. Fight and don't ever give up. Stand and you'll make this ground your own. Be who you are, and be all you can be. Don't doubt you're called to be here. Rise to the challenge of the day.
You start out tall at the top of the stairs, but as you move on down you become aware of the forces that are building here below. You start out tall at the top of the stairs, but as you move on down you're unaware of the joy that lies in wait for you to show

Henry Pike

This is an august evening sometime in a wet July. Seventy seven is heaven if ever you're passing by. No need to recall it all, just the laughter in the air. Dunedin is freedom, and we've done much more than we would dare to share, but here we go tonight down the hill to Henry Pike.
Tony and Don joke with Jim as we walk the steep and frozen streets. Gail laughs at me and then Gina and Hamish and Nigel join in. Ice on the Canongate steps, and the harbour sparkles so smooth and clear. Soon we're on Princes Street, filling the footpath with noise – and we’re here, through the doors of Henry Pike tonight.
Shuffle is pounding the Eagles on board the Pittsburgh train. One table, no chairs anywhere, so we huddle around the bar again. It might be cold outside, but it's smoky warm in this crowd. Listening and dancing and drinking and talking far too loud. Henry Pike would feel at home
tonight.
Too soon it all ends, eleven pm and it's closing time. Battle the cold to the Octagon, salty hot chips to buy. Slowly we wend our way up the hill to home and bed. Soon we'll come back down the hill to Henry Pike.

Kill your instant gratification, end your wealth accumulation, lose your self determination. Now's the time. Dump your self justification, slay your race identification, waste your digital information. Now's the time.
Heaven on earth won't wait for money, heaven on earth is not a crime. Heaven on earth is in your future, let it shine.
Void your class discrimination, break up the state, break up ev’ry nation, kill every contraindication. Now's the time. Zap your ego medication, lose your moral constipation, death to your procrastination. Now's the time.
Heaven on earth is no religion, heaven on earth will make you sing. Heaven on earth is reaching for you, let it in.
Cancel growth intensification, end the marketing masturbation, vacate your gentrification. Now's the time. Crave a future of elation, choose truth, not obfuscation, seize the hope and love equation. Now's the time.
Heaven on earth will give you shelter, heaven on earth is there for you. Heaven on earth is your tomorrow, let it through.
Heaven on earth is no illusion, heaven on earth will bring you home. Heaven on earth awaits your answer, let it shine.

Journeyman

I've been travelling, and now I'm finally home. I've been wandering, and for the first time I feel like I'm whole. You've been beside me this whole time and I've never known. And yet the day I realised I felt this way was the first time I've ever really known anything.
So how could I have missed this feeling? It's all I ever wanted but I could never believe in! And I never really thought it could be mine. I've never felt this way before, I've never had the wings to soar. I've never had something like this, I've never felt the desire to be kissed.
I've been here before, but this time is somehow much more. And ev'ry time before I thought I knew ... and then there was you.
So how could I have missed this feeling? It's all I ever wanted but I could never believe in! And I never really thought it could be mine. I've never felt this way before, I've never had the wings to soar. I've never had something like this, I've never felt the desire to be kissed.

When you ride on the merry-go-round with the sun in your hair and your feet off the ground, do you believe that the way that you feel is illusion, a fantasy, something unreal?
No, you won’t get us that way. Hate will lock you in, hurt has locked you out, fFear will lock you up, pain can lock you down. Love will let you in, hope can help you out, joy will lift you up, peace won’t lock you down.
Hide away in your castle of sand with your dreams of escape to a fairytale land. Princes on horses don’t fly through the air just to rescue a princess who gives herself airs.
No, you won’t get us that way. Hate will lock you in, hurt has locked you out, fFear will lock you up, pain can lock you down. Love will let you in, hope can help you out, joy will lift you up, peace won’t lock you down.

Liberty Wakes

Liberty wakes at dawn for me.
Don’t come at me with your words of wisdom. Faith is all you need. Liberty wakes at dawn for me.
I won’t be buying into your religion. Truth is all I need. Liberty wakes at dawn for me.
You might be straight but you’re far too narrow. Hope is what we need. Liberty wakes at dawn for me.
Liberty wakes at dawn for me.

There are tracks through the silt where the old streets ran, skeletal remains of a dead town plan. On this corner I would spot while our Sharni would scout, back before the houses and cars pulled out. Sharni loved the game she was born to play. She sparkled like a winner, until the day Fancy Ferg rolled up smiling in his tan sedan and whipped our little Sharni with his master plan. No-one knows where Sharni went to then. Next day she disappeared, becoming just one of the long gone, the legends of the Borough of St Kilda.
Mudflats are now all there is to see where once thousands of homes nursed the bourgeoisie. Fancy Ferg ran his empire like a social scheme, with a little lubrication and a poisoned dream. Water started rising. Ferg was undismayed, taking houses as security for debts unpaid. But the tide kept on rolling, now the empire's smashed. Ferg rules a thousand acre swamp of mud and trash. Fancy Ferg no longer runs the town. There is no town to run, and he is just one of the long gone, the legends of the Borough of St Kilda.
I'm just one of the long gone, the legends of the Borough of St Kilda.
Now my days yearn for sand dunes and drifting away, retracing my steps in those games we’d play. Nights hold me in to keep the shadows out, where Sharni settles Ferg in a replay bout. Tides rise up, and memories flow out to leave a void inside that calls to all of the long gone, the legends of the Borough of St Kilda.
Sharni may have lost but she won, Ferg may have won but he’s done.

Frankly

Flowers will never keep me warm, but I’ll keep on picking ‘till my hands are raw. It’s a habit I’ve had for many years, so stop asking why. Glitter will never pay my bills, but my face will sparkle like the harbour at night. It’s an image that I’m quite proud of, so stop asking why.
‘Cause all I’m going to tell you is M Y O B. All I’m going to tell you is “shove off.” All I’m going to tell you is, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn what you think.
Music won’t further my career any more than your bitchiness serves yours. You could get a hobby, I don’t really care what. Just stop asking why.
‘Cause all I’m going to tell you is M Y O B. All I’m going to tell you is “shut up”. All I’m going to tell you is, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn what you think.
So why make such a din over the ink on my skin or the metal in my face. I’m sorry, it’s really not your place. You don’t have to wear it. It’s your opinion but I never asked you to share it.
All I’m going to tell you is M Y O B. All I’m going to tell you is “fuck off.” All I’m going to tell you is, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn what you think.

Lay Me Down
04:24

|

Now I lay me down.
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Angels watch me through the night and wake me with the morning light. Now I lay me down.
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John bless the bed that I lie on. Four corners to my bed, four angels round my head. Now I lay me down.
When the morning sees me wake show me the path of love to take. If I live another day I pray that love will guide my way. Now I lay me down.
Now I lay me down.
